However, the first person wandering along the narrow school walls and unlocking of different levels gets kind of old and boring. It is a calm endeavour after being geared up for some action and horror.

But I must agree that the story development and free time sequences where you can have conversations with your classmates and grow particularly close to them makes it worth your while. It is more intriguing and delightful to learn more about the other characters that you grow close to.

It is during the class trials that things get quite spicy. After completing this mode for the first time, a new mode is unlocked, Despair Dungeon: Monokuma's Test, where the player uses the characters developed in Ultimate Talent Development Plan to stop a horde of Monokuma creatures unleashed by the Monokuma Kubs in an 8-bit turn-based RPG game.

Plot Characters V3 sees 16 high-school students forced into a mutual killing game. Each character has a special skill or ability, known as an "ultimate talent". V3 is viewed from the point of view of two protagonists. First, Kaede Akamatsu, who's ultimate skill is that of a pianist. When Kaede next awakens the students remembers having ultimate talents, Kaede as the "Ultimate Pianist", while Shuichi as the Ultimate Detective. Monokuma - a robotic bear - arrives and informs the students that the only way to escape the academy is to successfully murder another student and not be voted as the culprit at the resulting trial.
